Worktop Table Saws
Worktop table saws are lightweight and are designed to operate while sitting on a table or other support. They can be lifted by one person and carried to the job location. These saws often have parts made of steel, aluminum and plastic and are designed to be compact and light.
The Worktop Table Saw is undoubtedly the most versatile machine in any shop. The worktop table saw consists of a circular saw blade, mounted on an arbor that is driven by an electric motor. The blade protrudes through the surface of a table, which provides support for the material (usually wood) being cut. A woodworker uses it to rip, square, miter, groove, shape and joins pieces.
Several blade attachments for the worktop table saw are available. The rip blade is used for rough cuts. The fine-tooth blade has more teeth per inch, so it's a good choice for cutting fine wood. The carbide blade cuts through light materials such as plastic or sheet metal. If blades are unsteady inside the table saw, you can install support washers to help stabilize them.
Essential accessories for any worktop table saw are a miter gauge and a ripping fence, both of which help guide the work piece safely past the blade. The miter fence, as it is also called, is a pushing device for making crosscuts. The rip fence is clamped in place, also parallel to the blade, and allows boards to be ripped evenly to the selected width.
